Pull out your calendars, please! The BHS has a busy few weeks ahead and we’d like you all to be a part of it!
This weekend, on Saturday, November 16th, is the “As Good as New” Garage Sale. This fundraiser for Operation Potcake begins at 8 a.m. at the Green Parrot Harbourfront Lounge on East Bay Street and ends at 6 p.m. Come on out and check out the amazing bargains and help fund spay and neuter in the Bahamas at the same time!
On Saturday, November 23rd and Sunday, November 24th, you will find the BHS at our table at the BNT’s annual Christmas Jollification. This is a great opportunity for you to do your pet’s Christmas shopping early and a wonderfully festive way to kick off the season. We are looking for volunteers to assist us on both days. The Jollification is on from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. If you’re a BNT member, you could also volunteer for the members’ evening, Friday, November 22nd from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. If you are able to volunteer for any of the three days, please contact me. Tuesday, November 26th is the Cole’s of Nassau Fashion Show in support of the Bahamas Humane Society. For more information about this event, please contact Cole’s of Nassau directly at 322-8393.
On Saturday, November 30th, join us at historic Jacaranda House for the Great Gatsby Party. This elegant evening kicks off with cocktails at 7 p.m. followed by dinner at 8 p.m. and then dancing, all to the live tones of Vice Versa. Tickets are $175.00 and may be purchased at the BHS, Nassau Florist, and Windermere Harbour Bay/Caves Village. A limited number of ‘junior’ tickets (for those under 30) are available for $125.00.
T-shirts are also available as part of this event, $20.00 at the BHS.
Goodfellow Farms will be holding their annual Christmas event on Saturday, December 7th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The BHS will have a table there so if you aren’t able to see us at the Jollification, here’s another opportunity to do your Christmas shopping! Volunteers are also need for a few hours on this day, too. Please contact me if you are interested in helping out!
Our last event for the year is the second BHS Adopt-a-Thon. This will be held on Saturday, December 14th and Sunday, December 15th. The BHS has a large number of animals available for adoption and we’d like them to find great homes! If you’re considering adoption, please come to the shelter at any time, but especially during the Adopt-a-Thon. The September event was highly successful with 96 animals being adopted out. We will be looking for volunteers for these days as well.
The 2013 BHS Christmas cards are in process and will be available soon. Please give us a call to see if they’ve come in!
